Certification Program

The COMMON Certification Program was developed by COMMON members to recognize current and future IT professionals as those that have demonstrated a high-level of technical and business knowledge through achievement of certification.

The program consists of two levels of credentials, the COMMON Business Computing Associate and the COMMON Certified Business Computing Professional. The program was developed by long-time members, members of the academic community and industry experts - those that know what knowledge and skills are needed in today’s competitive job market.

COMMON Business Computing Associate

The COMMON Certification Program officially launched in Orlando at the 50th Anniversary 2010 Annual Meeting and Exposition. The exam for the first level of certification, the COMMON Business Computing Associate credential, was available to take on-site for attendees. This exam is the first step in achieving the COMMON Business Computing Professional certification, and passing the Associate exam and earning this credential is a requirement to achieving full certification.

The Associate credential is geared towards IT professionals that are new to the field. "Professionals or students who have passed our qualifying exam will, in our opinion, have the skills necessary for success in their first IT jobs," said Bill Hansen, COMMON Strategic Education Team Manager. "We want to deliver IT professionals to the workplace that have proven their competence and can provide an immediate benefit to their employers".

At Interaction 2010 there will be a briefing session for interested participants about this program. The exam can be sat either at the conference or prior by pre-registering your interest. There is NO charge.
